Oxley Park Public School P&C Association is looking to employ an efficient & enthusiastic Canteen Supervisor (Level 2) who will manage the daily activities of the school canteen by providing fresh and healthy food to the school community of around 650 students and staff.

This role is for 5 hours (8:30am to 2pm, with 30 min break), up to 4 days per week during school terms for a 12 month duration. The P&C will review this position annually. 

The Canteen Supervisor is responsible for planning, organising and monitoring all daily operations of the canteen, creating new menus and prices, as well as working collaboratively with the P&C to review and implement all policies and procedures. The daily activities include but are not limited to: over the counter service, healthy food preparation, food storage, purchasing and maintaining stock levels, rostering, training, supervising and assisting volunteers, record keeping, and money handling.

Essential Criteria:

• Experience preparing healthy food from scratch, preferably in a commercial environment
• Experience and/or qualifications in providing healthy food service, preferably to children
• Experience in dealing with suppliers and preparing orders, maintaining stock levels and other duties relevant to the day to day running of the canteen
• Ability to effectively lead a small team of volunteers and work cooperatively with a range of people
• A passion for creating and delivering exciting and healthy food
• Dedication to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food handling and cleanliness
• Great communication skills, especially with younger children
• Sound knowledge of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy*
• A valid Working With Children number
• Full vaccination certificate: COVID-19

Desirable Criteria:

• Food handling certificate
• Own transport and driving licence
• Proficiency in the use of computer applications to manage canteen operations and previous experience using an online ordering system/s
• Experience in financial practices including costing menu items, ordering, invoicing, stock control, security of cash takings
• Enthusiasm for integrating the fresh produce grown at Oxley Park Public School into the menu to help assist the school in teaching/promoting fresh healthy foods
