The HKA 2014 EXPO
This year we’re really excited about our EXPO. We’ve read the feedback forms and we’re trying to deliver an EXPO that will excite you about the endless possibilities of preparing healthy, nutritious food in your school canteen.
Our theme is “It’s Easy Being Green!” and we’re going to focus on the basics (for new canteen mangers), as well as offer some further discussion around running a canteen and the challenges that arise after years of service.
Some of the seminars that we’re holding are:
– FRESH TASTES EXPLAINED: this will be a rundown of the Fresh Tastes Guidelines and how you to interpret them and what they mean when creating a canteen menu.
– COSTINGS AND MARK UPS: this seminar will focus on the importance of ensuring you price your items correctly – it’s essential information for any canteen that wants to make a profit or break even.
– LOVE FOOD/ HATE WASTE: we’re lucky enough to have this organisation commit to give a seminar about how to prevent food waste and take advantage of everything you purchase – good for your bottom line and the environment.
– FLEXISCHOOLS INFO: Flexischools will be presenting some information on using their online ordering system as well as open at the discussion to Q&A – so bring your quesitons!
– ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION: what are some of your most frustrating canteen challenges? We’ll be hosting a chat to share ideas with others and see if we can help each other. You can submit questions before hand, if you’d like.
