Partnering with Healthy Kids Association is vital if a food company wants access to the canteen market. We can:

Provide advice

  • We can assist manufacturers to understand the canteen guidelines specific to their state/territory, and the Everyday/Occasional or RED, AMBER and GREEN classification of products for schools. This is necessary if a company is focusing on their school canteen marketing strategy.
  • We can explain to distributors the unique business model that is the school canteen market. The canteen market is different to other food outlets and understanding how it differs and how its’ unique is vital if a company wants to distribute their products through school canteens.

Promote product reformulation

We can guide food industry to make their products healthier and more suitable for sale in school canteens. This specific school canteen marketing is essential if a product is to successfully sell at school canteens.

Promote healthy products and non-food products

Our Healthy Kids Product Registration Scheme means companies can register their food and drinks in our School Canteen Buyers’ Guide. Products need to meet the HKA GREEN and AMBER criteria in order to be registered. This Buyers’ Guide is used by school canteens across Australia and is one of the most comprehensive lists of products that are suitable to sell in school canteens.

Healthy Kids can assist companies with non-food products and services with their school canteen marketing by giving access to the school canteen market through advertising and at the Healthy Kids Food Exhibition and Training Day. We can also help non-food products and services access the school canteen market.
