Food safety changes for school canteens 2024

Food safety requirements are changing for school canteens across the country from the 8th December.

We’re excited to offer our members an exclusive partnership discount of 20% on the Food Safety Training courses available through the Australian Institute of Food Safety (AIFS).

AIFS training now aligns with the recent changes introduced by Standard 3.2.2A in the Food Safety Standard. These changes include:

  • New mandatory training for Food Handler Training
  • New Certification Requirements for Food Safety Supervisors
  • New record-keeping requirements for businesses

Food businesses are now required to have at least one qualified Food Safety Supervisor per venue. Having multiple supervisors ensures ongoing coverage in case of absence.

AIFS courses are conveniently delivered online and are flexible to accommodate busy schedules. Estimated time to complete courses:

  • Food Safety Supervisor course: 6-8 hours
  • Food Handler course: 2-4 hours
  • Basic Food Safety course: 1-2 hours

The training consists of two parts: online learning (Part 1) and an observer report (Part 2) completed by a nominated third party. Once both parts are completed, you’ll have the knowledge and certification needed to maintain food safety within your school canteen.

Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your team’s food safety knowledge and save with our special partnership discount.
