Allergies and special diets

Our school communities are made up of diverse populations. From students and parents to teachers and staff, the school canteen has a large audience to cater to. All children should be allowed to eat from the canteen and feel that their specific meal requirements (whether they’re health or culturally concerned) are catered for.

However, if you are unable to meet the specific requirements of a child, always be upfront and honest with the parents and child so they know they are unable to eat safely from the canteen.

Catering to different children with different requirements can be hard and we suggest calling on your community to help. Parents want to be involved and they want to help keep their child safe – don’t hesitate to ask for advice or work with parents to create a safe environment for their child.
