Buyers’ Guide
The Healthy Kids School Canteen Buyers’ Guide is a valuable tool used by school canteen managers to build healthier canteen menus in line with their state/territory’s canteen guidelines and policies. Products listed in the Buyers’ Guides are registered in the Healthy Kids Product Registration Scheme.
Many products in the Buyers’ Guides have been developed to meet the various state/territory canteen guidelines, and are available only through distributors in foodservice.
New in 2024: Buyers’ Guide App!
For the first time ever, in 2024 there will be a Buyers’ Guide App which can be used by canteen managers in NSW, ACT, NT, Qld, SA and Vic! A printed version of the NSW School Canteen Buyers’ Guide will also be produced and mailed to all schools in NSW with a canteen at the start of Term 1, 2024.
NSW School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023
The NSW School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023 contains a list of products that meet the Criteria of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. Products are categorised as Everyday or Occasional.
A printed copy will be sent to all NSW schools with a canteen at the beginning of Term 1, 2023.
School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023
The School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023 for ACT, NT, Qld, SA and Vic contains a list of products that have been assessed against each state/territory’s school canteen guidelines and policies. Products are classified as GREEN, AMBER or RED.
ACT School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023
The ACT School Canteen Buyers’ Guide 2023 contains a list of products that have been assessed against the National Healthy School Canteen Guidelines. Products are classified as GREEN or AMBER.
A printed copy is being sent to all ACT schools with a canteen in Term 1, 2023.
Registering products throughout the year
The Product Registration Scheme runs year-round. When products are registered after the cut-off date to make it into the initial 2024 School Canteen Guides, they will be added to the Buyers’ Guide App once it has launched in 2024.
