Buyers’ Guide

The Healthy Kids School Canteen Buyers’ Guide is a valuable tool used by school canteen managers to build healthier canteen menus in line with their state/territory’s canteen guidelines and policies. Products listed in the Buyers’ Guides are registered in the Healthy Kids Product Registration Scheme.

Many products in the Buyers’ Guides have been developed to meet the various state/territory canteen guidelines, and are available only through distributors in foodservice.


NSW Buyers’ Guide – 2021

The 2021 NSW Buyers’ Guide provides information on products meeting the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy. The NSW Buyers’ Guide categorises products as EVERYDAY or OCCASIONAL.

A printed copy was sent to all NSW schools with a canteen at the beginning of Term 1, 2021.

Other States/Territories Buyers’ Guide – 2021

The Buyers’ Guide for ACT, NT, QLD, SA, TAS and VIC lists products as GREEN or AMBER.

Products are assessed against the Healthy Kids Nutrient Criteria and colour-coded according to each state/territory’s healthy school canteen guidelines.

ACT Buyers Guide – 2021

The ACT Buyers’ Guide lists products as GREEN or AMBER. Products are assessed against the Healthy Kids Nutrient Criteria and colour-coded according to the ACT’s healthy school canteen guidelines.

Registering products throughout the year

The Buyers’ Guide is produced once per year, but our Product Registration Scheme operates year round. When products are registered after the cut-off date to make it into the Buyers’ Guide, the products and company details are listed on our “What’s New” page.
