Classification

NSW:  EVERYDAY   ACT: AMBER

Ingredients

10 slices bread, preferably wholemeal or multigrain
 5 tsp honey
 1 tsp cinnamon

Method

1

Preheat oven to 200ºC and line baking tray with baking paper.

2

Using a rolling pin, roll the slices of bread until thin and flat.

3

Using a tree cookie cutter, cut shapes out of your bread, and set the leftover crusts aside. Place the bread trees on your lined baking tray.
Note: It will depend on the size of your cookie cutter, but the one we used gets 3 trees per slice of bread.

4

Evenly distribute the honey across each bread tree. Spread it out until the whole tree surface is covered.

5

Bake bread trees in oven for 5 minutes or until crispy.

6

Evenly sprinkle cinnamon across each toasty tree to finish.

7

Serve 3 toasty trees as a delicious snack.

Tips

Don't waste the discarded bread crusts! Instead, you could:

  • Blend them into bread crumbs and use for later in a schnitzel, meatballs etc.
  • Make them into misshapen toast bites by topping with honey and cinnamon as you did with your toasty trees.
